Taytay Falls New look

I been to Taytay Falls in Majayjay Laguna for quite some time, I been there at least once a year and I been there twice this year. Its been the closest thing to paradise for me, the next best thing to the nicest place I ever been.

But the latest visit show me some changes and the new look of the magnificent waterfall and its catch basin. It's now missing a big chunk on its right side part. I noticed it when a big chunks of rocks are now available near where the water drops, I been there May this year and those big chuck was not there.

So i did some research and ask some of the locals there when and how this might had happened.
This is what most of them answers me.

There had been a shoot there for one of the scene in the movie of PIOLO PASCUAL and REGINE VELASQUEZ (Paano kita Iibigin) and they use some explosives that may have rocked the place. i asked them why did they not took action then. They told me that the rocks collapsed after a week. Due to heavy rainfalls that may triggered it by making the earth softer yet heavier. Good thing no one is hurt during the collapsed of the rocks.

It took me almost a month to finally rent the movie at video city to see for myself what may have triggerd the collapsed, and how big the explosion and its impact. It saddens me to see that they have to do this to one of my favorite place. I seen a explosion on top of the waterfalls twice, but its hard for me to really determined if they only set one explosion but used different angle to make it look that it happens twice.

To cut the story short I think that the locals there has the right theory on how the collapsed happened.

then

Now Look at the rocks

Majayjay again and again

Majayjay Laguna is and will always be a special place for me, here lies the famous Imelda Falls (taytay Falls) who is the very reason i started hiking in the mountains... I was very amazed by the beauty of it, the water basin that catches the waterfalls and the clear and cool water of this place... The trek is so easy that people tends to go here more and more. I on the otherhand tends to go back here every year sometimes twice to thrice a year, but every trip here is a brand new experience.

I been here with different companions, from friends, classmates, officemates, family and loveones, sometimes i even encounter bumping to old friends here, but most of the time I gain new friends here.

Here in Majayjay is where mitch (my gf) and I have our special date. Its my very first hiking experience, my first night trek and my first overnight in the woods. Its also the first time that i sleep on a tent. Plus the very first time that i actually seen and swim on a waterfalls basin.

Superman VS Doomsday Collectors Set

3 weeks ago, the 6 members of theTRIBE including me was on Rob Place Manila to watch a movie (Rush Hour) to celebrate my gf's birthday. After eating at Sbarro we then proceed to purchase tickets but because it was so late to go in the theater we decided to catch the LFS so we can watch the movie from the beginning. Having atleast 1 and a haft hour to waste we go store from stores just to look, then our wondering feet took us to comic odyssey who is on sale that night.. well most of the stores are but 20 peso comics.. Cmon. Then it came to us the SUPERMAN VS DOOMSDAY COLLECTORS EDITION.. (consist of two figures Superman and Doomsday plus the Death of Superman Comic Book) costing 2,000 peso. Well I tried to persuade my friend to buy it with me, but my convincing powers doesnt really affect anyone this days... But after 2 days thinking about it my girlfriend bought it for me... the price and perks of being a goodboyfriend hehehehe... here it is

Mt. Manalmon ( July 28-29, 2007)

Our trip to mt. Manalmon took us around 1 month to execute for many different reasons, but mostly because of our schedule. At kahit na di kami magkakasabay papunta duon, naisip namin na ituloy parin. Nauna ang group ni nic, harry and roger plus the trends pipol ( sir sam, misis ni sir sam, gelaine, janice at gay). they leave in the morning while my group with mitch, mar and nonoy leaves in the afternoon. Its not really hard to commute going there, cause many buses are available and plenty of different terminals are located around metro manila. We choose the one in TRAMO Pasay, (5 star Bus Line) and when we have reached Kamias in San Miguel Bulacn , we rode a tricycle to madlum. It took us 3 hours to reach baranggay Madlum including the bus and the tryke ride, just enough time for nics group to finished caving, spelunking and explore the place. Swerte naman that when we arrived Madlum that they have finished they're earlier activities and proceeded to start the hike to Mt. Manalmon together like one big happy family.

The hike was not really that hard mainly because we been looking forward to this and the mountain is not that high compared to the other mountains we have climb. Plus the fact that my group did not participate with their earlier adventure that ive heard is quite exhausting.

Even though their tired already we managed to camp at the campsite near the summit. While installing our tents some of us started to cook rice and other stuffs. We had a very delicious dinner and a very fun fuilled socials that night. We drink my version of The MINDORO sling and we sang songs while playing guitar.

The next day I was one of the first to got up to appreciate the sunrise. And it does'nt disappoint me for its offer me a great view of the sorroundings and the ray of light that is slowly bursting to the sky.( the main reason why i wanted to camp near the summit), I called them up and one by one they find themselves with me and we took pictures and more pictures.

After all of that , Its breakfast time and again everybody help in preparing our breakfast.

a little rest after breakfast we started to disassemble our tents and proceed to the training area.

It took us only 30 mintes to do it plus our guide give us a little token, a gift from above and we named him manalmon (mon for Short).

Honda Bay Palawan (Snake Island)

Our trip to Palawan last June 14 -17 includes a lot of places and memories to remember, but the one that really made a trip something to remember is our Island hopping at Honda Bay.

The trip will start with catching a boat ride that will take you island hopping. The cost will depends on how many islands you are planning to visit. There are at least 7 islands at this coast but only some of them are advisable to disembark.

We spend most of our time in snake island, we arrived there around 11 am and it was on high tide thus making few available sand for us to play or goof around. It is at around 2 in the afternoon that you will see the beauty of this place while the sand slowly emerges when the tide switches.
The trip will take you the whole day so please be reminded that it is better to bring food and drinks. It is also advisable to do your shopping at the local market to have a very reasonable price. Plus the captain of the ship and his companion are the one who will do the cooking for you. On our part we tried the crabs and some tuna, It’s like eating in an eat all you can restaurant with crabs as the main course. There goes my high blood and diet.

Underground River Palawan (June 16, 2007)

Well this is definitely one of the best place that I've ever been, and being a nature lover all I can say is please let's preserve places like this.

It is believe to be one of the longest navigable underground rivers in the world which features cathedral-like caverns and domes. The stalactites and stalagmites formation resembles like religious images, fruits, human and birds. Truly, an admirable underworld that project the omnipotence of the Creator over human hands.

It is located in the West Coast of Palawan, 81 km north of Puerto Princesa City. To get there you need only to catch a ride going to Sabang from Puerto Princesa, but if you want a more comfortable way to get there it is much advisable to hire a van to go there and if you got numbers in your group it is better para marami ang maghahati-hati para cheaper.
A motorized bangka is needed to go to the beach front of the underground river, from the beach front , you will only need to walk for 5 minutes through the forest, but dont worry there is a man made wooden path for tourist for easier walking.

The land form in the park are associated with rocky mountains ( of marble and limestone) running from north to south. Two-thirds of the area is covered by lush tropical rainforest from the shoreline to the highest peak, and one-third is thinly vegetated karst limestone. The vegetation types include lowland forest (often with 35 m. canopy), coastal forest and karst forest.

This National Park is currently a popular destination for visiting bird-watchers, and most of the threatened and restricted range birds of the Palawan Endemic Bird Area have been recorded here. It is also a sanctuary for philippine apes (unggoy) and monitor lizards (bayawak). During our visit there is this one ape that keeps on coming to the waiting area and keeps grabing food, and it was a suprise for me when we finally on our way to the beach front, we were greeted by a bunch of monkeys.

The Beachfront is now a marine reserve and people are not allowed to swim.

Bilao at Palayok Restaurant (Palawan)

June 14, 2007
Its was my first time to set foot at Palawan and if I'm not mistaken we arrived there around 10:00 in the morning. After fixing our accomodation at Audissey Penthouse, me and my companions started to feel the anger of our stomachs. We asked our guide Mang Dante if there is a place he can recommend to us and he said try eating at BILAO and PALAYOK ( im thinking ohhh a local version of Kawali't Kaldero sa Maynila).

When we finally reach Bilao & Palayok, I was amazed on the set-up of the place, it reminds me of the place in quezon called (Kinabuhayan Cafe). But this time it was bigger and much much more of a restaurant type of a thing. It is a native and seafood restaurant and believe me masarap ang kanilang bulalo and even if bulalo will activate my gout, well . . what the heck its my favorite.

The location of the place is just nera the airport and the exact address is: 353 Rizal Avenue, Puerto Princesa City so may i suggest pls pass by Bilao and Palayok have lunch or dinner there.
here are some pictures

Kubli Springs, Dolores Quezon

Our trip to kubli springs is the idea of a fellow thetribe member, and all I can say is that I'm glad we did go to this place. The place is located near a mining facility and it's been said that its privately owned.

The place is ideal for picnics, and summer fun activities, with it's clear flowing water, it will be hard for someone to resist dipping in it, specially during summer. It also has a potable water source that is made possible by bamboo sticks.

After several minutes of playing with water and photo ops, our guide decided to call us to eat lunch within the springs. The table is set down at the the flowing spring water and we literally ate in the water, coz some of us is siting in the springs while some of us look for a comfortable rock to sit, but i manage to sit in a rock underneath the water. So i got the comfort of sitting and the luxury of the flowing water on my body.

All I can say is I love the food i love the place and if i had a chance to go back here, I won't have
second thoughts.

Kinabuhayan Cafe ( Dolores Quezon )

June 2 - 3, 2007

The food is nicely presented and the rooms has a taste of exotic and uniqueness. Pati yung treehouse enjoy masarap gawing tambayan, yun nga lang wala masyado time to explore more and use all the facilitites.

Majayjay version 1.07 ( Taytay Falls )

The Villa Escudero Experience (mayo singko)

There is nothing much to say about the outing at Villa Escudero, except that its a nice place to visit once or twice in your life. This is really a tourist destination, with its tourist friendly schemes, it's one of the place a tourist must visit.

Upon arrival you'll be welcomed by very friendly people, not to mention the very sweet welcome drink. You'll then be escorted by a singing couple while riding a carabao cart to the main destination. From there you can choose where you want to go.

Me i prefer to go bamboo rafting and take pictures of the beautiful scenery at once. then eat lunch within the vicinity of the man made falls. Some of my officemates did not bother to take a shower with the refreshing water falls but i beg to differ. After that I did some more swimming in the pool and more river rafting..

To cut to the chase I would sure go back, but I'll make sure that I'm with my GF.

Lipa Fiesta (May 3, 2007)

Once a year, Every third day in the month of May, I would find myself in a barrio called "kayumanggi" in the city of Lipa, Batangas. Why? Some may think its becoz of the free food, others becoz of the free booze, and maybe because a promise was made. Every year a same old scenario will be in place. some changes will occur due to the availability of the other guest but the routine will stay the same. . after eating different kind of foods, after drinking bottles/cans of beer, after smoking countless sticks of cigarettes and after the countless hours of exchanging stories, it will come down to goodbye and the promise that we will be back next year... and so this is my sixth straight times that i been a guest in the hometown of my friend Victor (boss vic) Cuenca during fiesta..

Puerto Galera

This past holy week, me, my gf, my gf's 2 sistah my gf's friend, my friend and my friends wife decided to do something about the long weekend...

the original plan
The original plan was to got to sagada, somewhere up north the philippines, famous for its mountain ranges and its hanging coffins.. Sad to say we have to settle for less stressing and much closer place to go...

the backup plan
La union , Pangasinan., Well i've been to pangasinan once when one of my X officemate need us to attend to his wedding, but It's still okay to go if we know our way around the place and just having three days before the long vacation, It's quite hard to look for a resort which will accomodates us.

another backup plan was to go to Majayjay and spend at least three days in Imelda Falls, but it doesn't have the x factor to go there during long weekends.. plus the fact that just last year we been there for atleast 3 times. (back to the drawing board)

Last plan was to go to puerto galera.. well puerto is nice but during holy week.. man the price boom to its highest. if not triple the price it will be quadruple... But then again, who can blame them, its the only time of the year that they can really get paid.. and plus they keep the place peaceful and clean dba for us local tourist to enjoy..

The Death of Marvel Legends

I been a Marvel Comic Character Fan since my younger days. Watching most of their low quality cartoons like: the mighty tour, the fantastic four, spiderman and many more, it was my idea of fun. when i was in highschool that is the time that a friend of mine introduce me to the xmen characters, God knows how i start to save my allowance just for a comic. Then came the Uncanny X-men tv series on channel two every friday. How many times did i argue with my brother just to watch it and how many times that I did not go to gimiks just to watch them . Then there was this marvel cards that gives you the picture of the character in front and a brief description at the back.. Well I used to have two show boxes full of them..

Then puberty kicks in, bands, girls and things came up... but i never give up on marvel, Time flies but my admiration to marvel never did vanished. I watched every marvel movies that they produced and when toybiz created marvel legends, it was a dream come true for me. coz now there are this toys that are not expensive but has a high quality appearance plus the free comics... It lasted for at 15 series plus the special series that I asked my tita to bought me coz it is not available in dep store here in the philippines.

But Man when HASBRO take over. I now have second thoughts on purchasing the set. for reasons like it is expensive it has no comics and it has a poor quality .. Well All good things must come to end and thats HOW MARVEL LEGENDS DIES

The Pico de Loro Xperience
